SITUATION MAPS The Virgen del Mar campsite is located on the western coast of Santander, just 6 km from the city centre. Exit nº2 on S-20 (Sardinero Highway) Corbán direction (Virgen del Mar Beach). There are plenty of interesting places you can visit from the campsite, such as the Natural Park of Cabárceno (18 km), the beautiful village of Santillana del Mar (30 km), the heart of the Peaks of Europe (150 km) and Bilbao’s Guggenheim Museum (50 minutes). Just a few kilometres from the campsite you will be able to find large shopping centres, horse-riding centres, golf courses, a Municipal Sports Complex, the beaches of Sardinero, Santander’s renowned fishing quarter, bars, restaurants, cinemas and the famous casino Gran Casino del Sardinero. Just 300 metres from the campsite is the beach of Virgen del Mar, complete with its own island and 12th-century chapel. There are several other beaches nearby, including the sand dunes of Liencres, which have now been declared a natural park.
